Women of Color and Accomplishment

The Women of Color and Accomplishment series by Carol Jacobsen features beautifully crafted portraits and short biographies of remarkable African American women whose contributions have often been overlooked in history. Through vibrant artwork and compelling storytelling, these books celebrate women who have broken barriers in various fields, from civil rights and education to the arts and sciences.

The series aims to educate and inspire readers by highlighting the courage, resilience, and achievements of these trailblazing women. Each book serves as a tribute to their lives, offering both historical insight and creative inspiration.

The collection includes:

  1. Three Portrait Books: Each book features 31 vivid portraits of women, accompanied by a mini-biography that brings their stories to life.
  2. Coloring Books: Line drawings paired with full color portraits to engage readers creatively while learning about the women’s achievements.
  3. Enterprising Entrepreneurs: 16 Women of Color and Accomplishment: The first of four books that focus on a segment of the women for more detailed study. Others in this series: Transportation Trailblazers, Scientist and Inventors, and Musicians with a Message.
  4. Exhibition Catalogs: Portraits and stories of the women in each of the Exhibitions, including Teaching Black History Through Art, which included student colorings using the Coloring Book 1 and student essays.
  5. 30-Day Inspirational Journal invites readers to reflect daily on the accomplishments of these women, providing writing prompts and gratitude exercises alongside their bios and portraits.
